Summary: 

Obtains diagnostic x-rays using radiation-generating equipment to aid physicians and providers in the diagnosis of diseases in infants through adults. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:

1. Obtains diagnostic quality x-rays in all areas of Diagnostic Radiology by:

a. Adjusting radiation factors for each examination to ensure quality imaging.

b. Properly positioning body part(s) of interest for each procedure.

c. Utilizing immobilization devices to help obtain diagnostic images, and ensure patient safety.

d. Processing radiographic images by computer aided devices.

e. Provides care in a manner which aligns with STAR-IQ Service Behaviors and Values.


2. Follows “As Low As Reasonably Achievable” (ALARA) radiation protection guidelines (i.e. using proper beam restriction and lead-shielding devices to protect the patients, staff and general public).


3. Assists physician in procedures, and administers contrast media.


4. Follows the policies and procedures of the department and the MetroHealth System.


5. May be responsible for area(s) of instruction within the departmental clinical education programs.


6. Performs other routine duties such as:

a. Answering telephones.

b. Following computer protocols for assigned systems (i.e. RIS, PACS, EPIC, etc.).

c. Transporting and assisting patients as needed.


7. Maintains orderliness/cleanliness in radiographic rooms, and assumes responsibility for the appropriate handling of equipment; restocks all supplies.


8. Keeps current with trends, developments, and practices in the field as they relate to this work assignment.


9. Incorporates principles of teamwork in the resolution, completion, and follow-up of responsibilities.


10. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

 

 

Qualifications:

Required:
Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
Has and maintains status as a Registered Radiology Technologist with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
Has and maintains a valid Ohio Radiographer License through the Ohio Department of Health.
BLS Certification from the AHA OR obtains certification within the standard probationary period.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Responsible for remaining current with continuing education credits.

May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
May need to lift, pull or push over 50 lbs.
May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
