SCOPE OF ROLE

Reporting to the Manager, Nursing-Psychiatry, the Supervisor, Nursing-Psychiatry will provide oversight, direction, and leadership of the behavioral health nursing team, while concurrently ensuring appropriate services and excellent care is received for patients and their families. You will actively participate as a member of a patient-focused interdisciplinary care team and manage the practice and delivery of nursing care by establishing clinical direction, providing clinical supervision, and maintaining quality outcomes. The Supervisor, Nursing-Psychiatry will supervise all aspects of development and personnel management.

 HOW YOU’LL SUCCEED :

·       Effectively supervise and oversee the daily objectives of the behavioral health nursing team.

·       Be actively engaged when overseeing your team member’s individual performance which should include ongoing coaching, development, and meeting objectives through the annual review process.

·       Lead by example by provide ongoing communication, teaching, and training to team members.

·       Actively lead team meetings and process improvement initiatives to continuously improve work productivity, quality and efficiency of the team.

·       Determine appropriate patient care decisions and identifies and resolves concerns affecting the delivery of patient care services.

·       Manage the practice of professional nursing and delivery of nurse care by establishing clinical direction for nursing care delivery, providing clinical supervision, and maintaining quality outcomes.

·       Provide ongoing management, education, and support of patients in all aspects of treatment.

·       Demonstrate professionalism in coordination of care for other service lines to include primary care, infectious disease, social work, etc.

·       Assure quality of care by implementing nursing philosophies and standards of care; enforcing adherence to state board of nursing and state nurse practice act requirements and to other governing agency regulations

·       Identify and ensure care delivery is maintained within the scope of practice for Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Medical Assistants who may be on the team.

·       Diligently plan work schedules and delegate responsibilities and tasks to staff.

·       Consult with providers whenever necessary to ensure most appropriate plan of care is carried out. 

·       Complete appropriate documentation in the medical record and comply with state, federal, and departmental policies when sharing/documenting patient care data.

·       Complete appropriate prior authorizations and patient assistance forms.

·       Maintain supply inventories by studying usage reports, identifying trends, anticipate needed supplies, approving requisitions, and cost allocations.

·       Maintain clear communication with co-workers, referents or designated liaison person.

·       Maintain and update clinical and professional knowledge and skills through formal and informal educational experiences to ensure best evidence based practice. 

·       Participate in implementation of quality Improvement assurance initiatives and utilization reviews to ensure current evidence-based care.

·       Represent the company in a professional manner and coordinate care with appropriate staff of outside facilities or emergency rooms when necessary.

·       Comply with all agency policies and procedures.

·       Maintain all aspects of HIPAA, promoting patient confidentiality and right to privacy.

·       May be required to perform telehealth services as determined by Signature Health.

·       Adherence and completion of compliance training provided by Signature Health.

·       Responsible for and completes all productivity/documentation requirements.

·       Participate in all assigned staff meetings and staff development programs.

·       Demonstrate appropriate attendance and punctuality in adherence with Signature Health policies.

·       Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE :

·       Completion of an approved program in registered nursing required.

  • 3+ years’ of total RN experience with 1+ years of nursing supervisory experience required.
  • 1+ years’ of psychiatry nursing experience preferred.

·       American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

·       Bachelors of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

·       A working knowledge of mental illness and the disease concept of chemical dependency is preferred.

·       Proficient with technology and electronic medical records.

WORKING CONDITIONS :

·       Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office/clinical work environment.

·       While hours of operation are generally standard, flexibility to work evenings and extended hours may be required.

·       Requires periods of sitting, standing, telephone, and computer work. 

·       Hearing: adequate to hear clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.

·       Speaking: adequate to speak to clients or patients in person, over the telephone or through telehealth technology.

·       Vision: Visual acuity adequate to perform job duties, including reading information from printed sources and computer screens.

·       Physical effort required: occasional lifting and carrying items weighing up to 15 pounds, unassisted.

·       Possible exposure to blood borne pathogens while performing job duties.

·       Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive hand movements, standing, walking, squatting and sitting, with some lifting, pushing and pulling exerted regularly throughout a regular workday.

·       Sufficient dexterity to operate a PC and other office equipment.
