Culture and Food Reporter
The Daily Advertiser is located in Lafayette, La., the gateway to Acadiana– Cajun’ Country. The area is a jambalaya of diversity, arts and culture, food and fun. There’s always a festival, Mardi Gras parade or cultural event to attend. In the small towns around Lafayette, you’ll experience the “real Mardi Gras,” a tradition that involves chasing chickens on horseback and gathering ingredients for a gumbo.
We’re looking for a reporter who can tell these stories while creating diverse relationships with people from Lafayette and the surrounding communities of Acadiana. This reporter will have a big personality and great social media skills. Daily emphasis will be on mobile-friendly content that is relevant and compelling to local residents and will keep our audience coming back. The reporter will balance that with sophisticated journalism and projects that deliver rich insights.
We seek a passionate, motivated, focused and curious reporter willing to jump on trends but also engage audiences in the stories and issues behind them. We will expect breaking news, deep-dive profiles, trend pieces and enterprise. In turn, you’ll have the opportunity to hone your skills in a newsroom that is highly collaborative, supportive, and fun.
