Job Description:

The State University of New York (SUNY) System Administration is seeking highly motivated individuals to apply for the role of Admissions Recruitment Advisor(s).  These dynamic positions will be responsible for increasing applications to SUNY campuses by recruiting students within the New York City and Long Island area, with a goal of enrolling 500,000 students by 2030.  Individuals who are searching for an exciting opportunity and who want to make an impact on their communities are encouraged to apply.  

Primary functions will include traveling to high schools and attending college fairs and developing relationships with students, parents, and guidance counselors.

Additional duties and responsibilities include:

  • Implement office recruitment strategies and establish specific territory recruitment plans
  • Serve as an expert regarding SUNY campuses, academic offerings, outcomes for SUNY graduates, and the marketing messages used 
  • Advise students, families, and counselors regarding admission guidelines, processes, transfer options, and financial aid options
  • Utilize text and social media communication in recruitment efforts
  • Establish and maintain relationships with school counselors and community-based organizations
  • Work with supervisors to develop plans to target non-traditional college students, including adult learners
  • Continuous assessment of outreach activities and utilize data to provide recommendations to leadership regarding the value of all recruitment initiatives
  • Develop weekly and monthly reports to leadership regarding outreach activities
  • Develop and maintain relationship with campus financial aid contacts
  • Develop familiarity with non-SUNY competitors
  • Respond to office inquiries 
  • Stay up-to-date with admissions and higher education trends, and utilize to contribute to organization growth
  • Utilize technology to support assigned territory and other recruitment activities including Recruitment Plus and SUNY dashboards


Requirements:

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Ability to travel extensively, specifically during the Fall and Spring semesters
  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to diversity and inclusion and ability to work with diverse populations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word 
  • Experience working in a team environment to manage projects from inception to implementation
  • Ability to prioritize time and activities, showing initiative and handling multiple tasks with minimal supervision
  • Valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle
  • Ability to participate in evening and occasional weekend activities 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in admissions or student affairs setting
  • Extensive presentation skills

 


Additional Information:

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience. Excellent fringe benefits. Minimum starting salary: $50,148. 

State Title:  Admissions Advisor (SL3).

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.
