Our graduate nurse and orientation program provides a strong supportive environment with resources and education to meet the individual needs of each new RN. We develop strong, confident nurses who adjust well to independent practice while gaining experience, time management and critical thinking skills. Our Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit (MSICU) is an 18 bed unit caring for patients with critical medical and/or surgical care. Specialized training includes CORE EKG classes, Intra-Balloon Pump, Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy, Ventilator/Respiratory class, and Peritoneal Dialysis. We encourage and participate in the NICHE program for our geriatric population. We incorporate a primary care nursing model with a team approach to meet the needs of the patient population.

What you will do:

  • Therapeutic critical care and med/surg nursing interventions
  • Patient education, goal setting, critical thinking and care planning.
  • Care for and provide treatment modalities.
  • Collaborative team approach: SNAP rounds daily. Vent rounds with interdisciplinary
  • Clinical Service standards of care and practice.
  • Utilizing the Nursing Process, plans, directs and supervises the care of patients in addition to being involved in the provision of direct care of patients and families.

Education, Training, Experience, Certification and Licensure:

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with eligibility for licensure, in the State of New York.
  • Maintains current BLS/CPR and ACLS certification.
  • Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

Work Environment and Hazards:

  • Clinical setting. Exposure Class I

Physical Demands:

  • Medium work: must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently; occasionally lifting maximum of 50 pounds. Will require ability to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and reach.
