As a member of the Grounds Maintenance team, the Grounds Supervisor will be responsible for organizing and prioritizing the daily activities of the grounds team members and for collaborating on the development and implementation of operating goals and objectives for the Grounds Department.

ESSENTIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Directly supervise and participate in the daily activities of the grounds department including maintenance of turf grass, existing woody and herbaceous ornamental plants, as well as installation of new landscape designs.
  • Supervise grounds team members, which typically includes training, performance evaluation, recommendations for hiring, associate development and problem solving.
  • Develop and execute a maintenance plan and schedule in coordination with Director of Grounds.
  • Ensure departmental standards for associate appearance and conduct are met.
  • Maintain all resort grounds at a consistent high level in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Safely operate, maintain and train team members in using heavy machinery such as skid steer, tractor, water trailer, dump truck and snow plow as well as power tools such as backpack blowers, chainsaws and string trimmers.
  • Develop procedures and manage department records in accordance with applicable laws, company policies and horticultural standards.
  • Identify and treat pest and disease problems on plants with integrated pest management techniques. 
  • Assist in the annual budget planning process and regularly monitor expenditures.
  • Work as a member of the snow removal team, including being on-call as needed.

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of experience as a crew supervisor / foreman.
  • Ability to work efficiently and prioritize multiple assignments.
  • Must be motivated to achieve high work standards with accuracy and attention to detail including record maintenance and fiscal management.
  • Demonstrate initiative by identifying problems and taking actions to solve them.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with supervisor and colleagues across many departments.
  • Ability to work independently, with little supervision as well as foster a cooperative work environment as part of a team.
  • Employee development and performance management skills
  • Knowledge and implementation of applicable safety procedures.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and use of computers throughout the resort.
  • Must be highly customer motivated and adopt five star hospitality standards.
  • Must be punctual and able to work flexible hours including some holidays and weekends, particularly when snow removal is a priority.
