*Program Innovator at United Way of Snohomish County

We aren’t your typical United Way. Our work is called CORE: Creating Open Roads to Equity. CORE moves whole families out of the traps of poverty through a collaborative and 2-Generational approach serving both children and the adults in their lives, together. At United Way of Snohomish County, we catalyze, support, and invest resources to create more equitable systems so families in Snohomish County can live to their fullest potential regardless of race, place and ability. As a VISTA member you will help lift families out of poverty by increasing access to free tax preparation through community conversations and program redesign. Major functions include data evaluation and analysis and engaging community partners and families through listening sessions and other outreach formats, resulting in designing a tax preparation model that increases access for families with low-income. We welcome applications from candidates who: 1) demonstrate a commitment to improving outcomes for young children and/or families with low-income, 2) are willing to grow in personal and professional learnings of social and racial justice, 3) demonstrate the skills, abilities, and experience needed for this role regardless of education and compensation history and 4) are inspired by our values of integrity, collaboration, innovation, equity, and outcome-oriented. Attributes of a successful candidate include experience working with or leading successful community engagement efforts, excellent relationship-building skills, knowledge of how to employ community voice (feedback, stories, etc.) to drive change and shift narratives, experience and demonstrated ability to understand and use data to drive continuous improvement efforts, excellent communication skills and proven ability for clear, accessible, and persuasive writing and presenting, and demonstrated ability to work on a small team whose work is intertwined and exercise flexibility to respond to emerging needs.
