Our client, a vertically integrated cannabis company, is seeking a Planning Director to lead a team for their growing company.  
This is a remote / flexible / work from home position, but the candidate should be located in New York, Ohio or Pennsylvania.

The Planning Director leads the retail and wholesale demand planning teams and is responsible for creating and continually optimizing inventory investments to maximize sales and margin across retail stores & wholesale markets. The Planning Direcgtor will collaborate to develop strategies that will maximize utilization in our cultivation facilities and continually improve profitability. This person will also lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual budgeting process for retail and wholesale, in collaboration with finance, retail, and wholesale leadership.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Develop tools and processes for planning and merchandising, including quarterly assortment reviews, demand & production plan handovers, and creating business cases for new product / market opportunities
  • Build planning and business intelligence capabilities across the retail and wholesale organizationsInfluence the creation of a by channel and by store allocation tool to improve planner & merchant efficiencies, and increase in stock
  • Establish and use departmental KPI’s to drive performance
  • Partner with cross-functional teams for alignment on sales & margin projections
  • Train and develop planning team on thought processes to identify product trends using a mixture of qualitative and quantitative analysis
  • Lead the creation of strategies to maximize wholesale sales and margin
  • Communicate complex ideas and concepts clearly, concisely, and effectively to multiple audiences
  • Engage in detailed demand planning activities as key markets approach recreational use (NY)
  • Analyze P&L reports, with a focus on sales, margin, and inventory turn; implement action plans for improvement when appropriate
  • Provide leadership within the planning team through consistent training, development, and recognition

Education and Required Skills:
  • 7+ years merchandise planning experience
  • 3+ years prior supervisory experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Merchandising, Supply Chain, or related field. Relevant work experience considered in lieu of education• Strong financial acumen & analytical skills with the ability to improve efficiencies and operations
  • Previous exposure to data warehouse systems and planning software
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, & PowerPoint), advanced Excel skills
  • Experience in Microsoft NAV / D365, LeafTrade, LeafLink and tracking systems (metrc, biotrack, MJ Freeway) is preferred
  • Experience in the cannabis industry

Compensation: $130,000
