Job Summary

The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for the provision of medication therapy for the purpose of achieving definite therapeutic outcomes that improve patient care at assigned regional entity. Pharmaceutical care involves the process through which a pharmacist works with other health care professionals to design, implement, and monitor a therapeutic plan that will produce specific therapeutic outcomes for the patient. Through these actions, the Pharmacy Department supports the overall goals of the hospital, and improves the health and well-being of the patient.

The Pharmacy Manager will support the concept of fiscal responsibility including the development, implementation and monitoring of the Operating and Capital budgets of the Pharmacy, maintaining required inventory and monitoring and improving productivity, maintaining a continuous quality control and improvement program, monitoring and evaluating all pharmaceutical process and standards.

The Pharmacy Manager will provide leadership and foster a sense of teamwork within the Pharmacy and create an environment which supports continuing education; Evaluate and review all policies and procedures annually. Develop, implement, and monitor goals and objectives. Support the Medical Staff & Ancillary Departments in the goal of achieving definite therapeutic outcomes and improving patient care.

The Pharmacy Manager will ensure that pharmaceutical consults are completed according to established guidelines, that pharmaceutical monitoring, Clinical interventions, pharmaceutical distribution, and education will be provided by the pharmacy as per policy.

Essential Functions

  • Department Administration: Develops, secures approval of, implements, monitors adherence to and administers policies within the Pharmacy and ensures same follow hospital policies and practices and state and federal regulations. Prepares, secures approval of, and administers capital expense and operating budgets for the Department, monitors adherence to budget and initiates corrective action as necessary. Develops, secures approval of, and implements long-and short-term goals for the Department, including recommendations for staffing, new equipment, and space.
  • Department Personnel: Interviews, hires, and evaluates the performance of and when necessary, disciplines subordinate personnel. Oversee operations for all pharmacy operations.
  • Leadership: Inspires individual and organizational excellence. Energizes stakeholders and sustains their commitment to changes in approaches, processes, and strategies.
  • Coordination of Services: Coordinates the delivery of pharmaceutical services to individuals within the entity. Works well with other health care professionals to design, implement and monitor a therapeutic plan that will produce specific therapeutic outcomes for the patient.

Qualifications- Required

  • Bachelor's Degree BS in Pharmacy from accredited school of pharmacy. Education and knowledge of effects and responsible use of medications on individuals of all ages or equivalent
  • 3 years of progressively more responsible pharmacy related experience
  • 3 years of related experience
  • LIC-Clinical Pharmacist - STATE_MI State of Michigan
  • LIC-Pharmacist Controlled Substance
