The Division of Allergy and Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator.
The Barrett Team is searching for a Research Coordinator to facilitate clinical and translational research. The role will be part of the mission to help the University's response to COVID and emerging virus research. Complexities of the position include multiple interactions and skill sets: Human subjects/IRB paperwork, interfacing with subjects and clinicians, gaining consent from research subjects.
Duties:
Research
Interface with research subjects and referring clinicians
Gain consent from research subjects
Sample acquisition and associated informatics development and the use of such to prepare reports
For a new award to establish an EIDRC -Emergency Infectious Disease Response Center at CERID, help to establish the research administration network within the US and internationally in at least five countries to start
Development and Communication
Develop human subjects research protocols,
Submit, and respond to queries on Human subjects
IRB filings
Communicate with NIH, labs, and foreign collaborators
Setup de identified database tracking
Independently develop and implement research project procedures that meet research objectives and ensure compliance with all aspects of Institution, Federal Drug Administration (FDA) and National Institutes of Health (NIH) regulations
Design, develop, document and maintain policies and procedures for patient registration and protocol implementation. Design, create and revise research instruments (e.g. case report forms) as necessary to ensure quality data that satisfies research objectives. Design, document and implement procedures for audits to assure protocol compliance and to ensure research data quality. Develop and implement corrective action plans to ensure protocol adherence and data integrity.
Develop and continually assess priorities to ensure that projects are executed successfully and completed within required time frames to meet research objectives.
Develop clinical research protocols that clearly describe the research objectives and procedures necessary to test the hypotheses of the research project.
Write informed consent documents that meet institutional guidelines and satisfy Institutional Review Board requirements.
Work with multiple groups (e.g. UW Grant and Contract Services, UW Human Subjects Review Committee, Clinical Research Budgets & Billing, study sponsors) to ensure timely implementation of each research project

REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Biology or a related field and one year's previous work as a Research Coordinator, preferably in the medical/health fields.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
DESIRED
Actual experience as a Clinical Coordinator, preferably at the University of Washington,
Experience in clinical trials work, worked in international settings or in communication with non-US investigators,
Experience filing new IRB human subjects approvals and maintaining them,
Experience providing consent, human subjects training, GCP training, MPH or MSc in health related fields where training in public health and clinical trials was offered,
Good communication skills, and ability to work well in a team
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
This employee will work within CERID (Center for Emerging and Re-emerging Diseases) at SLU at a designated work area with desk, computer, and phone.
