Vice President, Human Resources

Basin Electric Power Cooperative, a member-owned G&T cooperative, is seeking candidates for the position of Vice President, Human Resources. Basin Electric Power Cooperative (BEPC) is a not-for-profit generation and transmission cooperative that provides wholesale power supply and transmission service to 131 rural electric cooperatives across nine states including facilities located in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wyoming. Basin Electric owns over 2,000 miles of high-voltage transmission facilities, and operates 5,222 megawatts (MW) of generating resources, comprised of coal, gas, oil, renewable, and distributed energy. Basin Electric also has two wholly-owned, for-profit subsidiaries, Dakota Gasification Company and Dakota Coal Company.

The VP, Human Resources provides leadership to ensure requirements are met for the Cooperative in the following functional areas of Human Resources: Compensation and Benefits; Recruitment, EEO & Affirmative Action; and Learning & Development. Applicants for this position must have broad human resources experience covering EEO and affirmative action, salary administration, recruitment, employee and leadership development, and benefit programs. The incumbent must also grasp the general business problems facing the Cooperative and be able to develop human resources programs to meet these general business concerns. Such skills are acquired through a four-year degree in a business or human resources related field and ten years of advanced human resources experience, including not less than five years in a human resources management role or a strong ability and proven long-term success in managing staff and teams. Excellent oral and written communications skills, interpersonal skills and demonstrated skill in leadership, team building, and problem solving are required.
