Description

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Performs/monitors CT procedures according to written protocol as requested by physician's order, or unless modified by radiologist’s preference.
  • Adheres to established organizational and departmental Policies, Standard Operating Procedures, quality assessment, and safety.
  • Assists radiologists and other physicians.
  • Ability to instruct on proper use of dictation line.
  • Ability to interact with patients of all ages.
  • Must possess problem solving abilities, excellent customer service skills and Patient First characteristics.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe working environment throughout the facility.
  • Available for on-call and call-back responsibilities.
  • Assist Diagnostic Supervisor and Senior Technologist in making recommendations for cost containment and quality improvement.
  • Produce high quality diagnostic scans for interpretation by the Radiologists, including detailed patient history, according to department protocol.
  • Positions, instructs, and explains the procedure to the patient.
  • Thoroughly screens patients prior to procedure. 1
  • 3. Properly charges exams upon completion through ITS system.
  • Maintain supplies for assigned area.
  • Determines need to obtain sedation and discusses possibility with radiologists.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, (including assistance in general radiology area), student supervision and evaluation.
  • Performs quality assurance testing and maintains clean working environment.
  • Assists radiologist and/or other physicians when required.

QUALIFICATIONS:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to administer IV contrast as directed by Radiologist.
  • Possess knowledge of CT equipment and pre-exam screening requirement within 3 months of hire date.
  • Computer literate and ability to understand PACS, CR, Meditech, and RIS system.
  • Demonstrated organization and time management skills.
  • Possess knowledge of cross section anatomy.
  • Knowledge of patient safety precautions and contraindications.
  • Ability to critique processed radiographs (or images on monitor) against measurable criteria as established by Radiology Department Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Does not require supervision for technical detail, capable of independent judgment.

Position Requirements

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE: American Reg of Rad Techs (ARRT); Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR); CT; Rad Tech (RT).

ADDITIONAL LICENSURE/CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be a registered Radiologic Technologist (registry eligible) in good standing with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Must hold a current valid license with the State of Indiana as a Diagnostic X-Ray Machine Operator.
  • Must be CPR certified, (within 3 months of initial hire date).
  • Must hold a current valid Indiana State Driver’s License.
  • Associate is responsible for submitting copies of licensure and registration along with annual self-evaluation at scheduled performance review.
  • 12 ECE points in radiologic technology annually, 24 biennially.
  • Associate is responsible for maintaining records of individual continued education and will submit them along with self-evaluation at scheduled performance review.
  • Previous CT experience/training preferred. 9. CT Registry (ARRT) preferred when eligible.

ADDITIONAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Mandatory Annual Continuing Education: Customer Service, Fire and Safety, Confidentiality-HIPAA, Infection Control, Corporate Compliance. Annual Unit Specific Competencies, and all education required by regulatory, accreditation bodies and/or Hancock Regional Hospital.
