ABOUT METRO TRANSIT'S EXPANDING RAIL DIVISION
Metro Transit's Rail Division is responsible for operating and maintaining Sound Transit’s Link Light Rail service on a 24.5 mile route from Angle Lake to Northgate. By the end of 2024, our Light Rail is expected to expand to nearly 60 miles in length, with the planned addition of 19 more stations. These rail services complement Metro's robust fixed-route bus system and mobility services, and the Puget Sound transit agencies are working together to build an integrated system that lets people travel farther, faster, and more easily.?Come join Rail’s team! Any combination of education and experience that clearly demonstrates the ability to perform the job duties of the position
Demonstrated knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling techniques, and principles
Time management and prioritization skills
A general understanding of how maintenance software and automated information systems are navigated and function
Excellent oral and written communication skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail
Strong analysis, problem solving, and quantitative skills
Resourceful and independent problem-solving skills, and the proven ability to research information thoroughly
Ability to effectively engage in and sustain relationships with people from diverse cultures and socio-economic backgrounds

Demonstrated proficiency with business applications such as Microsoft Office suite (Excel, Outlook, Teams, Word, PowerPoint, etc)
Ability to interpret and apply applicable standard operation procedures, standard maintenance procedures, and operating rules.
Techniques to work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines, and adjust to changing priorities.
Demonstrating a positive customer service orientation with both internal and external clients.

Knowledge of light rail vehicle design, or maintenance of light rail (and /or transit vehicle) components, systems, and equipment.
Knowledge of planning/ scheduling techniques and principles related to vehicle maintenance
Knowledge of the principles, practices and industry standards that support effective and cost-efficient preventive maintenance and repair of light rail revenue vehicles
Experience or skill related to using Power BI and other databases to make decisions.
Familiarity with APTA standards and guidelines. Technical knowledge about light rail maintenance, maintenance planning, operations, materials, resource allocations, availability, reliability, and all Maintenance Assignments.
Skill in researching, analyzing, and evaluating new maintenance, rebuilding and refurbishment methods, and techniques.
Skill or experience in developing and monitoring departmental and program/project operating budgets, costs, and schedules.
Attention to detail and knowledge in ensuring all appropriate measures are taken to prevent or minimize reoccurrence of maintenance problems, failures, defects, and issues.
Use of Computer Maintenance Management Software (CMMS) or Enterprise Asset Management Software (EAMS)
Understanding of trades/crafts in maintenance setting
Understanding of data systems, data entry experience
