East Stroudsburg University is hiring a Maintenance Repairman 2 (Electrical)! Located in the beautiful Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania, ESU’s proximity to New York City and Philadelphia provides convenient access to internships, careers and social activities. Just minutes from campus are the country’s largest water parks, scenic Delaware Water Gap Recreation Area, Appalachian Trail, and other opportunities for recreational fun.


As the Maintenance Repairman 2 (Electrical), you will need to think creatively and be comfortable working creatively. You will be an active member of the Facilities Management team and will work closely with the Electrical Supervisor to repair and maintenance of campus buildings and equipment. You will thrive in this role if you like combining your electrical and mechanical experience while repairing needs around campus. To be successful in this role, you must be detail-oriented and have a strong work ethic and high standards to perform quality work.  

Tuesday through Saturday, 7:30am-3:30pm. You may have to flex your schedule from time to time based on the needs of the business to be a true Maintenance Repairman 2 (Electrical).  When our team shows up for work, they are energized and motivated to succeed - all while being the most crucial piece to keeping the ESU operations humming.


What Will I Do At ESU? (AKA Essential Duties)

  • Repair and replace electrical motors, controllers, and switchboard panels, lights, power circuits, and electrical generators.
    Perform skilled tasks in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade and the National Electrical Code. Locate and correct power failures and short circuits. Install open and concealed wiring and lighting fixtures.
    Install, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on campus switchgear, the underground distribution system, and all other electrical equipment. Lays out and installs conduits for power, lighting, signal, and alarm wires. Maintain and repair fans, rooftop ventilators, floor scrubbers, vacuums, circulating pumps, food mixers, slicers, electrical ovens, dishwashers, and other electrical equipment and appliances.
    Install temporary wiring for special events that are held at various locations on campus.
    Maintain piping systems by opening clogged pipes and traps, repairing broken or leaking pipes, repairing steam lines, traps and regulators; Inspect, maintain, repair, and or replace heating system pumps, cooling system pumps, chemical feed pumps, air handlers, condensation pumps, and valves. 
    Maintain a working knowledge in the use of the standard tools, equipment, and testing devices of the electrical and plumbing trades.
    Install mechanical and computerized sensing equipment and control devices to insure the efficient operation of a temperature control system.
    Troubleshoots control systems or equipment malfunctions and repairs, replaces, or adjusts component parts.
    Install, maintain, and repair valves, faucets, traps, sinks, wash bowls and other sanitary fixtures. Install fixture supports, hanger, tower bars, toilet tissue holders and other bathroom fixtures; 

    Maintain piping systems by opening clogged pipes and traps, repairing broken or leaking pipes, repairing steam lines, traps and regulators; Inspect, maintain, repair and or replace heating system pumps, cooling system pumps,  chemical feed pumps, air handlers, condensation pumps and valves. 
    Performs lead work over helpers performing basic assignments
    Performs related work as required. 

What We're Looking For (AKA Qualifications)

  •      Two years of experience as a Maintenance Repairman 1; or four years of experience in building and plant maintenance work, which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the required skills, knowledge, and abilities.  

    ·         Valid PA Driver’s License

    ·         Able to read, write, comprehend English; able to follow verbal instructions.

    ·         Experience with Word, Excel, Teams required.
