Support your community in its time of need by joining Public Health's Preparedness Program in preventing and addressing the health consequences of emergencies. Public Health Preparedness is seeking a Public Health employee to serve as the Readiness Coordinator.
 
The Readiness Coordinator maintains the infrastructure required to support emergency response operations. The role includes administering information systems, providing expert technical assistance to partners, developing response procedures and documentation, testing and maintaining equipment and stockpiled supplies, and serving in the logistics section during emergencies. The Readiness Coordinator continually assures their tasks, work outcomes, and products benefit the resilience, health and safety of the whole community.

Work Schedule: This position is 40 hours per week and is overtime eligible.The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with some evening and weekend work required to meet work demands. A limited number of alternative work schedules and arrangements may be considered.

Job Duties

  • Consult with subject matter experts to develop detailed tactical plans for implementing emergency response strategies such as mass dispensing, mass fatality family assistance, and medical surge. Direct program business administrator to setup contracts and memoranda of understanding for emergency response resource needs.
  • Maintain readiness of Public Health's emergency operations center (EOC) through regular testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of systems and equipment.
  • Primary responsibility to setup equipment and systems in Public Health's emergency operations center and ensure the facility operates smoothly when activated for emergencies.
  • Plan and deliver trainings on EOC systems and equipment. Maintain checklists and other materials for just-in-time training.
  • Support the maintenance and deployment of stockpiled supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain redundant communications capabilities for the department, such as the Government Emergency Telecommunications System, Wireless Priority System, and 800 Mhz radio
  • Serve as site administrator for IT systems which support emergency response operations:
    • Microsoft Dynamics (contact management system)
    • WASecures (Washington State Health Alert Network)
    • KCInform (employee emergency notification system)
    • WATrac (Washington state healthcare resource tracking)
    • WebEOC (incident management platform)
  • Work with Training and Exercise Manager to plan and conduct periodic EOC drills and exercises.
  • Serve in Health and Area Command during emergencies. Be available to respond to emergencies 24/7, some of which may require changes in schedule or work location.
  • Supervise and direct setup of field emergency response sites.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Demonstrated project management skills with the ability to facilitate groups, handle multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize effectively with competing deadlines and time constraints
  • Demonstrated skill drafting technical procedure guides, presentations and reports
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain good working relationships with staff, stakeholders, and partners; work with people of diverse backgrounds
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with a team
  • Clear and concise oral and written communication skills and effective presentation skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Creativity in identifying and implementing solutions to emergent issues
  • Commitment to ensuring response strategies are inclusive, accessible, and culturally appropriate
  • Technical skills necessary to serve as a system administrator for an information technology system
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office products (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Sharepoint, OneDrive) to complete daily tasks

Desired Qualifications
  • Completion of FEMA emergency management trainings in topics like Incident Command System (ICS 100) and the National Incident Management Framework (IS 700)
  • At least 2 years of experience with program management.  
  • Relationships with local emergency response and healthcare organizations.  
  • Experience working in the public health field and / or knowledge of public health emergency preparedness and response principles and strategies
