Job Summary:

 

Provides professional nursing care to patients/families and the community by assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the nursing care and supervising the work of the licensed practical nurses, ancillary staff and students assigned to the unit.  Specifically, ICU Support Pool Registered Nurse is member of a robust ICU Support Pool, who upon completion of orientation, is able to work skillfully and autonomously in all adult critical care units, including Medical, Surgical/Trauma, Burn, Cardiopulmonary and Neuro in time blocks of 2-10 weeks.  The nurse performs as a bedside nurse, teacher, medication nurse and care coordinator.  The ICU Support Pool Registered Nurse 2 exemplifies the Upstate mission, vision, and values and acts in accordance with Upstate policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

Possession of or eligibility for a license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State.  Candidates with less than one year of post licensure acute care nursing experience who possess a license or eligible to practice as a Registered Nurse in NYS will be considered for appointment to a Nurse 1 position.  

Preferred Qualifications:

Diploma, Associate or Bachelor's degree from an accredited Nursing Program and an active New York State RN license in good standing. 6-12 months of RN experience preferred for this position, however, new-to-practice nurses will also be considered. This position actively participates in unit/service activities, supports co-workers, and assesses unit needs.

Work Days:

Day/eve every other weekend some holidays
