GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs a variety of Pre K classroom support tasks

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure instruction is meeting Massachusetts standards
  • Work closely with teachers and colleagues to ensure student learning
  • Support student learning and district personnel in a variety of subjects
  • May be required to assist or perform with diapering
  • Performs related duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

 

  • At least 1-2 years of experience in relevant field preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Springfield Public School District
  • Ability to respond to questions from students, faculty, staff, and visitors
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and focus on detail as required by the job
  • Ability to use (or learn to use) computer software and systems applicable to the position
  • Ability to collect, organize, and interpret data and prepare accurate records
  • Ability to adapt to changes in work situations and priorities
  • Ability to reason/analyze; use logic to identify and resolve problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain constructive and cooperative interpersonal relationships with staff, peers, supervisors, or managers in the work unit and other departments, as well as with staff of outside entities and other individuals, as applicable to the essential duties and responsibilities

  • Skill in utilizing interpersonal skills to relate and interact with a diverse population

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, a negligible amount of force frequently, and/or or constantly having to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. 

WORKING ENVIRONMENT

This position requires employee be in an office or similar indoor environment.  Employee is frequently exposed to individuals who are rude or irate.
