Main Functions
-Ensure that the purchase order, drawing, or file provided to the supplier contains adequate information to properly provide the materials as required.

-Deal directly with supplier representative(s) to coordinate all aspects of purchased products or services. 

-Ensure suppliers are approved for the materials and or services being provided including submission of new suppliers for approval as required.

-Ensure that the correct amount of the product or service is supplied at the appropriate time and according to the required specifications.

 

This position requires access to information controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR), the successful candidate must be a "U.S. person" as defined in the ITAR and EAR (which generally means (i) be a citizen or national of the United States; or (ii) be a lawful permanent resident of the United States; or (iii) have been admitted to the United States as a refugee, or have been granted asylum, as specified under applicable law.

 

Typical Duties
-Review Purchasing queue and place purchase orders with suppliers as necessary to ensure on time delivery.

-Follow up on open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery is made

-Coordinate with the quality department to address non-conforming materials when necessary

-Coordinate supplier returns with the shipping department and notify accounts payable of returns.

-Complete the required paperwork and obtain approval for new suppliers. If approval is received, enter new suppliers into M2M.

-Regularly evaluate supplier performance using M2M data

-Update vendor lead times in M2M as required.

-Review and update safety stock levels for purchased items.

-Other related purchasing related activities as required.

 

Required Skills
-Knowledge of purchasing practices and ability to apply "best practices".

-Excellent math skills including the ability to convert from one unit of measure to another.

-Computer literate, including ability to use an ERP/MRP system, Microsoft Excel, Word, and windows at an intermediate level.

-Communicate & negotiate with suppliers for best quality, delivery, and pricing

-Ability to multi-task in a busy office environment while working with others

-Ability to compute, analyze and synthesize data.

-Proven interpersonal skills to coordinate actions across multiple departments 

 

Preferred Skills
Experience in a manufacturing environment.

Made 2 Manage experience (or similar manufacturing software)

Purchasing certification or bachelor’s degree in related field

 

Education Requirements
High School Diploma, GED or five (7) years’ work experience 

 

Experience Requirements
5 years purchasing experience

Valid driver's license and insurance

Acceptable driving record   

 

Physical Requirements
Sedentary - Sitting at PC creating documents

Telephone calls and e-mails

Standing and walking for filing/scanning

Attending meetings

Able to lift 10 lbs.
