Overview

ATSS Engineering has a client in Daphne, AL looking for a Naval Architect / Mechanical Engineer

Only U.S. Citizens will be considered for this position.

Candidates without the ship design or ship building experience will not be considered for this position.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for developing design calculations, drawings and reports as assigned,
Responsible for checking calculations, drawings and reports done by others,
Compliance with SAi’s employee handbook, company procedures and policies,
The candidate must currently be proficient in the following areas:

Working knowledge of functional design related to vessel structures,
Understanding and interpreting Maritime Regulatory rules (i.e. USCG, ABS, IMO, IACS) and performing related calculations,
Performing engineering calculations using the first principles of engineering supported by software computational tools (i.e. Multiframe, FEMAP, Autodesk Nastran, NxNastran)
Development of design ideas using 2D and 3D CAD Tools (i.e. AutoCAD, Rhinoceros, ShipConstructor),
Interacting with other design teams, customer representatives, equipment manufacturers, and shipyard production staff,
Preparing technical reports using Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint),
Excellent written and oral communication skills,
Shipchecks, field inspections and on-site visits,
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines,
Desired Qualifications:

Engineer in Training (EIT) License or Professional Engineer’s License,
Shipyard Experience,
Key Performance Indicators:

Quality of deliverables and the number of revisions,
On time delivery of drawings, reports, etc.,
Hours estimated vs. hours worked vs. hours billed productivity ratios,
Repeat and referred customers,
Additional requirements:

Able to provide proof of US Citizenship,
No felony convictions of theft/deception, violent crimes, or drug crimes,
Willing to submit to a drug screen and a background check,
Must comply with company, client, federal, state, and local safety and environmental rules and regulations while performing daily job tasks,
Able to enter 18-inch openings and work in confined spaces during site visits,
Able to utilize personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, steeltoe shoes, goggles, respirator, safety harness, safety line, flotation gear, etc.) safely per OSHA standards during site visits,
Possess sufficient handgrip and coordination to carry and operate tools and equipment during site visits,
Able to work at heights above 12’ while working from ladders, scaffolding and/or man lifts during site visits,
Able to climb in a safe manner (climbing as a minimum includes stairs, scaffolding, ladders, and ramps) during site visits,
Able to bend, squat, stoop, crawl, kneel, turn head from side to side, turn body at the waist from side to side during site visits,
