Brown County will be taking applications 
for a part-time 
Landfill Scale Operator

Brown County will be taking applications for a part-time landfill scale operator. 
Successful applicant must be able to work approximately 22 hours a week including every other Saturday morning. 

Applications may be submitted to the 
County Clerk’s Office by no later than 
4:30 pm, Friday, February 10, 2023 

The Scale Operator’s duties would include using a computerized scale to weigh incoming and outgoing vehicles, accurately logging data relevant to each vehicle, and helping to maintain a safe, organized working environment. The Scale Operator would also be responsible for helping to ensure the customer is disposing in the appropriate area.

Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, a basic knowledge of computers, as well as basic math skills. The Scale Operator must meet the public and be prepared to deal with difficult situations. As Scale Operator, the candidate will be trained on all rules and regulations pertaining to the State of Kansas and the Brown County Solid Waste Station. Applications may be submitted to the County Clerk’s Office.  Position opened until filled.
