Job Description Position: Teacher/Tutor

Job Description: The teacher/tutor will be working with Native American Students K-12 on-site and within School District. The teacher/tutor will be assisting students on completing their learning academics with the local public-school district or other online resources.

Duties and Responsibilities: Organize and engage a learning environment for K-8 students. Assist and monitor the progress of 9-12 students. Provide tutoring for those in need. Monitor and evaluate individual students' performance, track progress, and document. Keep proficient communication between the students, parents, administrators and teachers. Provide study skills (i.e. time management, note-taking, textbook, study/reading, test-taking, etc.) instruction. Report and work with the Education Coordinator on progress and assessments. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience: B.S. Education Degree (Elementary K-8 or Middle School 5-8) One to three years of teaching experience preferred. Experience working with Native Youth and Families. Able to work effectively with and relate to Native American Students in all grade levels. Must provide own transportation. (mileage reimbursable) Good oral and written communication skills.

Other Requirements: Empathetic, non-judgmental, friendly and supportive overall attitude. Must have a valid Idaho Driver's License and be insurable under the Tribal Insurance. Must demonstrate basic knowledge of the unique sovereign status of Indian Tribes and respect for Kootenai Culture. Must comply with the Kootenai Tribe of Idaho's Driving Policy, Drug-Free Workplace Policy, and Criminal Background Investigation. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and be subject to random drug testing throughout employment. CPR certified, in the process of certification, or able to become certified within 30 days. Must be computer literate and able to operate specific educational software. Must be fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
