Job Description

 

The Department of Mathematics, Physics, Astronomy, and Statistics at the University of Missouri – St. Louis invites applications for the full-time non-tenure track position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Mathematics to begin Fall 2024. The primary role in this position will be teaching with a focus on introductory and intermediate mathematics courses, such as courses in quantitative reasoning, statistics, college algebra, calculus, and differential equations. This is a 9-month appointment, but summer teaching is often available for interested faculty.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Our teaching faculty typically teach both in-person and online courses for a total of 12 credit hours per semester with a workload distribution of 80% teaching and 20% service.  

Qualifications

 

Qualifications:

  A Master’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline earned by the date of appointment  
  Demonstrated experience teaching and mentoring students from a wide range of disciplines, cultures, and academic backgrounds

Preferred Qualifications:

  Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related discipline earned by the date of appointment
  Evidence of successful teaching of introductory mathematics courses at the junior college or university level 
  Knowledge of evidence-based teaching and learning strategies for supporting student success
