Job Summary

The Precision Medicine Initiative Clinical Research duties include patient enrollment, assessment, specimen drawing, processing, shipment, data collection, and medical record review, subject follow up calls and visit scheduling, data query resolution, and monitor visits. Will also be responsible for maintaining Good Clinical Practices and follow HIPAA and HITEC. Will have the ability to function autonomously and also in a team setting working closely with various clinical and hospital staff.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinates and/or performs study activities which may include: enrolling patients, assessments, review medical records, subject follow up calls, visit scheduling, data query resolution and monitor visits and other research activities to the extent permitted by law and policy.
  • With appropriate training and delegation, monitors patient status; collects, reviews, and documents data into a variety of systems per protocol. May draw blood samples in some specific departments.
  • Responsible for maintaining Good Clinical Practices and follow HIPAA and HITEC.
  • Maintains research studies in compliance with federal, state, and local law, GCP, contracts, and institutional policies.
  • Responsible for identifying potential research subjects and the beginning of the enrollment processes, research lab draws, collects blood samples using universal precautions and specified phlebotomy procedures, processes biological samples, study specific procedures, data entry into electronic database, subject safety, spinning and processing samples, shipment of samples per IATA, etc.
  • Accurately and courteously registers individuals in need of testing services through hospital laboratory campus and physician offices. Obtains pertinent information and accurately enters into the appropriate computer system.

Qualifications
  • Required High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred Bachelor's Degree in health or science related field or equivalent
  • 2 years of relevant experience in research or interviewing experience Required
  • Clinical specimen collection experience Preferred
  • Pediatric phlebotomy experience Preferred
  • Experience dealing with the public in a medical or customer service field Preferred
  • CRT-Shipping and Handling of Specimen Training-Certification - UNKNOWN Unknown 90 Days required
  • CRT-Phlebotomy Technician - NHA National Healthcareer Association preferred Or
  • LIC-Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan preferred Or
  • LIC-License Practical Nursing (LPN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan preferred Or
  • LIC-Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - STATE_MI State of Michigan preferred
  • CRT-Clinical Lab Assistant (CLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred Or
  • CRT-Medical Lab Assistant (MLA) - ASCP American Society for Clinical Pathology preferred
