The clinical educator provides and evaluates clinical education for licensed and unlicensed staff on all shifts and facilitates evidenced-based practice.

  • Collaborates with unit leadership to ensure staff competency upon hire and annually.
  • Supports leadership by facilitating staff’s adherence to accreditation standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Exhibits leadership skills and ability to coach and develop staff to maintain and promote quality and affect change.
  • The Clinical Educator works collaboratively with the Department of Nursing Education and Professional Development to identify learning needs, develop and implement educational strategies, and participate in learning effectiveness evaluation.
  • The Clinical Educator adheres to the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice of Professional Nursing and the Code of Ethics and the Standards of Practice in Nursing Professional Development roles established by the Association of Nursing Professional Development (ANPD) to include: Educator, Consultant, Researcher, Facilitator, Change Agent, and Leader.
  • Provides patient care as required.

Education:

  • BSN required.
  • Master’s in Nursing or related field from an accredited program preferred.

 

Required Credentials:

 

  • Registered Nurse
  • Certification in a specialty clinical area or nursing professional development required. If not certified on hire, required within 1 year
  • BLS required or obtain within orientation. ACLS & PALS preferred

 

Experience & Knowledge:

 

  • Minimum of three years of clinical / RN experience.  ICU and ED experience strongly preferred. 
  • Experience with education, teaching in clinical setting.

  • Knowledge of JC/CMS accreditation requirements
  • Working knowledge of the use of established clinical and preceptorship models in the development of clinical education programs
  • Advanced nursing skills and knowledge in area of specialty
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively at all levels in a collaborative team environment.
