Job Summary

The Manager of the Product Innovation team is responsible for curating, vetting, and developing employer-sponsored health insurance product solutions to innovate solutions to drive growth. This individual embodies an entrepreneurial mindset and embraces brainstorming and exploring concepts. This individual also understands the product development process from ideation, design, and development by utilizing best practices and provides leadership and expertise in moving ideas through the pipeline. This individual is responsible for understanding competitive dynamics, pricing strategies, and innovative solutions to drive profitable growth in the employer market and will lead the innovation team.

This role has high visibility across the organization/leadership and will partner closely with key stakeholders within Priority Health in identifying market opportunities. This individual will demonstrate discipline and rigor in moving ideas and facilitating the phase gate reviews (Pipeline Management and Cross-functional Product Council workgroup).

Acts as a thought leader and subject matter expert on best practices to deliver a portfolio of solutions by utilizing human design thinking, project management, process improvement, and agile frameworks/methodologies. Individuals in this position are well-rounded in various methodologies/frameworks to support organizational culture and transformation, possessing creative skillsets while being compassionate, curious, courageous, and collaborative.

Consultative services will focus on developing and implementing key strategies, programs, and processes for value creation. The ideal candidate collaborates with other transformation partners, departments, and cross-functional teams to ensure that business priorities are understood and aligned. In addition, assist and leads workforce/talent planning, team effectiveness/development, performance management, leadership coaching, organizational design, and change management processes to inform and support each other to foster strategic alignment and improved organizational performance.

The Manager will oversee multiple small to mid-sized, medium/high-complexity pilot projects. Responsible for all aspects of the project through the entire pilot and coordinates with various departments for appropriate operational readiness and handoff. Responsible for assembling project team, assigning individual responsibilities, identifying appropriate resources needed, and developing a schedule to ensure timely project completion. To effectively coordinate the activities of the team, one must be familiar with the system scope and project objectives, as well as the role and function of each team member.

Essential Functions
  • Leads product innovation process that includes identifying new trends in the market or new business opportunities that increase Priority Health’s employer group market revenue stream and profitability. Strategically identify and evaluate new products/ services/ opportunities for products and services across multiple lines of business aligned to business strategy. Maintain Subject Matter Expertise of current and emerging marketing trends.
  • Develop business plans that support investment recommendations and present the same to executive management.
  • Strategically shapes insightful product narrative that articulates the offering’s value story to senior management, sales and marketing teams. Act as product evangelist.
  • Collaborates with Product Portfolio Manager to ensure the right mix of products are being considered to enhance and grow the portfolio.
  • Drive company and cross-functional teams to understand segment, target, positioning and concept testing of new opportunities to effectively size markets, address consumer needs. Help develop strategic, insight-driven overall company product pipeline that allows Priority Health to compete in the marketplace.
  • Foster strong partnerships with other key stakeholders – actuary, sales, market research underwriting and marketing - to build product solutions that generate profitable growth
  • Develop, train and continuously improve "intake" procedures as well as policies and procedures around requirements, scope and artifacts needed in these areas.
  • Hold staff accountable for high performance against job descriptions, policies, procedures, controls and processes as well as corporate and divisional guidelines.
  • Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate and completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in business, marketing, science or liberal arts - Required
  • Master's Degree - Preferred
  • 3 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities leadership experience in managing multiple, large cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior level management and key stakeholders - Required
  • 10 years of experience typically gained through skills/knowledge/abilities project management related function - Preferred
