Job Summary: Performs clinical and clerical support duties, including, but not limited to: registration, check out, referral management, scheduling and patient phone call management. Prepares exam rooms for patients before and after exam or procedure, assists providers with non-sterile procedures, acts as a chaperone as needed, provides direct patient care that includes taking vital signs, height, weight, and EKGs. Maintains patient flow, orders stock/equipment for patient care, checks monthly outdates of product, and orders dietary needs. Collects/processes patient lab specimens, initiates/maintains patient's medical record per Transplant Services protocols. Preps medical record for future appointments and completes forms management. Utilizes EMR (EPIC) to complete communication between patients, clinical staff, and providers, to document medical information, and to complete data entry (includes scanning). Parallel to the EPIC EMR, completes identical processes in Transplant specific electronic applications. Serves as a liaison during patient management to outside/referring physician offices, facilitating collaboration with Nephrology and Transplant Services. Directly assists Registered Nurse personnel with tasks related to all phases of the Living Donor, pre-surgical patient, and post-surgical kidney recipient processes. Participates in Transplant Services quality improvement activities and directly collects and submits quality data. Must be able to multi-task in a timely manner, adhere to medical documentation standards, and maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
Minimum Qualifications:

Completion of an approved Medical Assistant/Medical Office Assistant program or one year experience directly related to the medical field; current CPR certification; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills required. 

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience using an electronic medical record system (EMR), EPIC preferred and Transplant patient care experience preferred.
