Provides a safe environment and support to the direct care, planning, instructions and documentation of services and activities for assigned Behavioral patient. Monitor and maintain the safety of the patient care environment. Works in collaboration with the nursing department staff. Demonstrates knowledge of human behavior and therapeutic communication. Works collaboratively and cooperatively with nursing staff to implement the plan of care. Provides assistance ad close supervision of assigned patients throughout the shift. Engages patients in both educational and diversional appropriate activities. Actively engages patients in therapeutic activities that reinforce patient internal controls. Exhibits knowledge specific to signs and symptoms of escalating behaviors and enact appropriate interventions. Establishes rapport to prevent aggressive behaviors, minimizes restraints and uses the least restrictive intervention. Interacts using therapeutic communication with patients and staff. Accompany patients to off division tests/procedures to maintain safety, prevent escalation and elopement, and protect other patients and staff. Enforces policies/procedures to maintain safety, prevent escalation and elopement, and protect other patients and staff. Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organizational and department specific competencies and requirements. Appropriate related experience working with children with autism and other developmentally delays. Ability to communicate accurately and effectively, both written and verbally. Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.
