Do you value the impact of community journalism? Do you crave the chance to shape news coverage? Would you relish the challenge of a fast-paced news hub with plenty of breaking news and rich opportunities for impactful enterprise and watchdog work? Can you provide encouragement that helps reporters do their best work?
The Lansing State Journal, part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, seeks a content coach to join its editing team. We work in a digital-first environment and produce multiple daily newspapers from our hub in Lansing. Candidates must be able to coach both entry-level reporters and those with experience. Good knowledge of AP Style and fundamental newsgathering standards are a must. We interact daily with colleagues in multiple Michigan newsrooms as well as a digital production team and national design studios.
Here’s what you need:
The Lansing State Journal serves Michigan’s dynamic state capital market. Large employers include Michigan State University, two General Motors assembly plants, and large health care and insurance sectors. Entertainment includes Big Ten sports, MSU’s Wharton Center and abundant city, county and state parks including two at Lake Lansing. The area is also within easy distance of Detroit, Ann Arbor, Grand Rapids and Lake Michigan’s beautiful beaches.
