Job Description

Job Summary

The Security Officer, Lead assesses and manages risk by conducting risk assessments, reports and training for the Spectrum Health
System in accordance with Joint Commission standards and the Spectrum Health Security Management Plan. This position is
responsible for department training and for deploying security training for hospital employees. Their primary role is to fulfill all the
normal duties a security officer, as well as lead shifts in the absence of a supervisor. The Lead Security Officer be responsible for providing in the moment coaching to peers, as well as helping run the shift.

Essential Functions

• Ensures that all risk assessments are performed. This includes an annual security risk assessment of each building, including regional locations. Communication of findings with appropriate agencies and managers.
• Knowledge and application of the PA330 and the MCOLES procedures associated with the act.
• Trains, develops, and evaluates assigned personnel. Comes up with innovative ways to train staff. Maintains training records.
• Ensures that department personnel meet department, city, state, and federal safety training and qualification requirements.
• Actively participates in safety initiatives and risk mitigating measures where appropriate. Completes all position and unit safety related competencies and requirements on a timely basis.
• Acts as front line informal leader to peers on a regular basis. Provides coaching and feedback to team members on job duty performance. Is a demonstrated subject matter expert in healthcare security, as well as daily operations of facility they are responsible for.
• Reviews technology, and prepares written reports for internal investigations and police investigations.

Qualifications

• Required High School Diploma or equivalent
• Preferred Bachelor's Degree Criminal Justice or related field or study OR equivalent in experience.

• 5 years of relevant experience of Healthcare, Military, Security Officer or Law Enforcement experience Required
• 7 years of relevant experience of Healthcare, Military, Security Officer or Law Enforcement experience Preferred
• Law enforcement leadership experience. Preferred

• LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required
• CRT-IAHSS Basic - IAHSS International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety 90 Days required
• CRT-First Aid - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required Or
• CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days required
