Maintenance Assistant

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:  

  • Replacing float units in facility toilets and washers, and unclogging drains and sink traps
  • Replacing/Cleaning filters in AC/heating units, washers/dryers, vents, and exhaust fans
  • Repairing windows, doors, stoves, washers, dryers, floor machines and other items as assigned
  • Replacing electrical systems, equipment and outlets
  • Repairing beds, wheelchairs, walkers, grab bars, and water/bath sprays
  • Painting, as assigned
  • Building/Constructing shelves, racks, tables, benches, foot stools, and bulletin boards, as requested
  • Maintaining a supply of replacement parts for facility equipment and current catalogs of parts and supplies, and ensuring all tools are in proper working order at all times
  • Assisting in routine maintenance inspections throughout the building
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Director of Maintenance/Safety Officer

Qualifications
To be successful in this role, candidates must have a strong knowledge/ability to use tools and equipment in repair and basic construction, in addition to possessing a practical understanding of plumbing, electrical, alarm and AC/heating systems. Candidates must have experience in a maintenance or related role, a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license and a high school diploma or equivalent.

 

Housekeepers

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:

  • Providing a clean and sanitary environment for all residents, visitors, staff and families
  • Assuring resident rooms and furnishings are clean and sanitized
  • Maintaining cleaning carts and equipment
  • Following infection control policies/procedures to prevent the spread of illness and disease
  • Ensuring rooms are properly ventilated to prevent condensation, mold growth and odors
  • Collecting trash from patient and resident areas daily, and disposing properly
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all bathrooms, residents’ rooms, public spaces and offices
  • Dusting and cleaning walls, windows, screens and privacy curtains
  • Reporting burned out lights and light bulbs to the maintenance unit clerk immediately
  • Additional maintenance duties, as needed

Qualifications
All applicants must be able to read, write and follow written and oral instructions, and must display strong communication, tact and interpersonal skills. A high school diploma or GED equivalent and previous housekeeping experience are preferred but not required. Candidate must be able to provide driver's license or personal identification card at time of interview and must be able to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.

 

Activity Aides

Responsibilities
Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing a monthly calendar of daily activities, and distributing information along with weekly menus to all residents
  • Organizing and implementing activities for residents and families
  • Assisting with outings, including transportation and logistics
  • Maintaining daily activity attendance and preparing ongoing reports to show participation
  • Communicating with nursing staff and other care providers to help residents best participate in upcoming activities
  • Securing substitute events or activities in the event of cancellations or inclement weather
  • Managing activities volunteers, in conjunction with the Activity Director
  • Monitoring equipment and supply inventories, and updating orders/requests

Qualifications
This is a high energy, hands-on job and requires outstanding interpersonal, communication and management skills, plus a genuine desire to improve residents’ well-being. Because of the nature of the community, extreme patience, empathy and compassion are essential, as is at least one year of experience working with a geriatric population. A high school diploma is required. Candidate must be able to provide driver's license or personal identification card at time of interview.
