Job Summary: Will be responsible for accurately scheduling and coordinating appointments across multiple specialties. Duties include: document/complete patient and referring provider demographics; understand medical terminology to accurately take orders with correct spelling for outpatient appointments and testing; handle urgent appointment requests, coordinate provider’s availability across multiple locations, insurance authorizations and patient preparation instructions; communicate to patient or referring provider appointment information, request additional information/documentation, answer questions and advise of next steps; initiate insurance eligibility and address verification; inform patient of anticipated costs and what to expect upon arrival (where to park, what to bring, etc); mail patient and referring physician correspondence re: upcoming appointment; follow up on work list items necessary for upcoming appointments; follow up with referring physician for issues of medical necessity prior to patient’s appointment/procedure; contact patient when needed prior to appointment for missing demographic information, concerns with insurance eligibility or coverage and collect co-pay. Must speak clearly with proper enunciation and grammar. Need effective keyboarding skills and ability to accurately type while talking to patients and providers. Strong medical terminology skills. Will need to become proficient managing multiple scheduling, registration and call center applications. Excellent customer service skills are necessary. Minimum Qualifications: New York State Department of Civil Service Eligible List or eligible for transfer.  Preferred Qualifications:
