Position: Accountant
The Gulf Regional Planning Commission (GRPC) is seeking a qualified professional to perform the duties of Accountant. The candidate will report to the Executive Director to achieve the mission and goals of the Commission. The Accountant compiles, maintains, and processes financial report and information necessary for daily recordkeeping and accounting duties. This position includes an excellent benefit package, including medical, dental, and PERS retirement.
JOB DUTIES INCLUDE:
Assist the Executive Director with formulation of the Commission’s annual budget and monitoring expenses
Responsible for accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll functions
Maintains accounting records in accordance with Government Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
Creation of financial reports and project budgets as required
Support Board and committee meetings as required
Annual development of the Commission’s Indirect Cost Rate Plan to submit to MDOT
Manage, coordinate, and submit files to external auditor for annual Single Audit and supplementary information

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and experience of governmental accounting programs and software. Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment, address competing demands, delays, or unexpected situations. Ability to prioritize multiple tasks. Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and Commission partners. GRPC desires the applicants have advanced skills in the following areas:

Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. At least three (3) years of full-time employment in progressively responsible capacities in an Accounting department, preferably with a government agency. Proficiency in the use of commercial accounting software.
Starting salary will be determined based on qualifications.
