Job Summary

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania enrolls approximately 8,000 students in graduate and undergraduate programs. The university is located in the borough of Kutztown in a charming rural setting, and is within 20 minutes driving time of the diverse metropolitan areas of Allentown/Bethlehem and Reading, and within 60 minutes of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Kutztown University's Counseling and Psychological Services (CPS) department is currently accepting applications for full-time temporary licensed mental health professionals to provide short-term counseling services for the 2024-2025 academic year. CPS is located in the student health center, reporting through the division of Enrollment Management and Student Affairs, and serves undergraduate and graduate students in a team-oriented setting.  

Responsibilities of this non-teaching position include:
  • Providing in-person individual and group counseling.
  • Providing risk assessment and emergency intervention services.
  • Providing consultation services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Providing clinical supervision of graduate practicum students.
  • Providing referral services to external resources when a higher level of care is needed.
  • Developing and implementing culturally- and trauma-informed outreach programs on a variety of topics.
  • Collaborating with various campus partners and participating in campus service opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A master's degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.  
  • Appropriate PA licensure (LPC or LCSW).
  • Expertise or special skills working with at least one of the following populations is required: Neurodiverse individuals, individuals with disordered eating patterns, military-affiliated/veteran students, NCAA athletes, and individuals impacted by substance misuse.
  • Ability to develop and foster effective interpersonal relationships.
  • Cultural competency as it relates to working with communities of color; LGBTQ+ individuals; working with people of various abilities, faiths/non-faith, ethnic backgrounds, and other diverse populations.
  • A demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, belonging, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications

  • A doctoral degree in counseling, social work, or a related field.
  • Previous experience providing counseling services to college students in a university counseling center is strongly preferred.

Supplemental Information

CPS is open Monday  - Friday and some evening availability is required for this position. Opportunities to participate in weekend campus events may also be available.
