Overview

ATSS Engineering has a client in Wisconsin looking for an Electrical Engineer.

Position Summary: This position is responsible for developing the functional designs of the various electrical systems for the project assigned at our vast, 63-acre facility. Significant heavy manufacturing takes place both in several fab shops, as well as on the waterfront. The successful candidate will support the 1,000+ working men and women on our waterfront by determining the technical requirements of the project in the discipline of electrical engineering; applying the technical requirements in developing electrical diagrams, schematics and purchasing technical specifications as related to equipment selection; verifying the functional design through calculations and validating the design through test procedure development; and providing technical support to customers during problem resolution.        

Detailed Description:

Participate in meetings to assure effective information flow from the Project Engineer is maintained.
Participate in meetings with the Electrical Engineering Manager’s staff to obtain status of FBS goals and objectives.
Attend meetings to participate in resolution of issues as related to the project assigned. 
Set up meetings with the drafters and designers assigned to clarify assignments and resolve issues.
Attend meetings with potential outside providers of products and services designed to meet project contract requirements (i.e. equipment suppliers) stablished and supported. . 
Attend meetings with project customers to resolve issues ranging from functional design technical compliance to Electrical system construction and testing clarifications.
Properly delegate tasks to supporting engineers, designers and drafters.
Complete delivery quality documentation on time and budget to and Project Customers.
Electrical System Calculations (i.e. voltage drop, fault current, etc.)
Complete and apply all Engineering relating statuses and tracking documentation.
Assist the Electrical Engineer Manager in reviewing FBS’s QMS system procedures and work instructions and determine if they must be modified and revised to achieve Project Goals and Objectives.
Assist the Electrical Engineer Manager in reviewing project based documentation development schedules. 
Development of Engineering Department work pack creation-(during first 4 weeks of project startup).
Prepare technical drawings, specifications of electrical systems, or topographical maps to ensure that installation and operations conform to standards and customer requirements.
Assist with manufacturing, construction, installation, maintenance, support, documentation, or testing activities to ensure compliance with specifications, codes, or customer requirements.
Ability and willingness to engage in highly energetic pursuits on the waterfront.

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate Degree from an accredited junior or technical college with an emphasis in electrical design/drafting
Minimum of 5 years of ship design experience
Current computer skills relevant to the field of competence to include Microsoft Office word & excel
Ability to work within schedule and budget restraints
Excellent communication skills
Highly accountable
 

Desired Qualifications:

BS. in Electrical Engineering
Minimum of 3 years of Electrical Systems ship design experience
A working knowledge of standard shipbuilding rules and regulations, as well as the associated regulatory agencies and the review & approval process
