General Description
The PT Student Services Generalist is responsible for providing fitness and wellbeing, health education, and intramural programming to student-athletes and non-student-athletes. Moreover, the position is responsible for assisting with athletic equipment/uniform management and distribution and organizing teams for meetings. 
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Assists with the preparation and monitoring of the Athletic Equipment budget.
• Monitor issuance of uniforms to teams, coaches, or individual athletes; maintains records regarding equipment and uniforms checkouts.
• Checks in equipment and uniforms upon delivery to verify receipt
• Stores and packs sporting equipment appropriate when not in use.
• Recommends changes in policies and procedures regarding equipment and uniform distribution
• Maintain inventory and equipment, including proper storage of equipment and maintaining database records
• Responsible for collection of all gear at the end of each season, generating final inventory for coaches and reporting lost items and charges to the Assistant Director of Athletics
• Launders uniforms when returned at the end of the season and before storing.
• Assist coaches with the review of sport specific equipment and uniform needs.
• Assists with report creation for daily operations of the fitness center.
• Hire, train, and supervise staff for the Union County College Fitness Center and Intramural program. 
• Instruct and monitor participants/students in the proper use of equipment.
• Assist participants/students with development of fitness and wellness programs as appropriate.
• Develop, instruct, and staff wellness classes to improve strength, flexibility, cardiovascular conditioning, or general fitness, in addition to mindfulness and meditation.
• Create and implement a robust intramurals program including but not limited to Zumba, aerobics, basketball, and flag football.
• Responsible for oversight of equipment maintenance insuring safety of operation and recommend purchases as needed for the fitness center.
• Conduct surveys to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, intramural and fitness programs, events, or services.
• Prepares an annual intramural and fitness center budgets for submission to the Assistant Director of Athletics and monitors the budget in each category.
• Creates a comprehensive evaluation system for all intramural activities.
• Recruit and train a team of work- study students to assist with intramural programs and fitness center support.
• Ensure the Fitness Center is clean, well maintained, and secure and coordinate any needed repairs in a timely fashion.
• As assigned, act as ‘administrator in charge’; resolve operational issues and direct staff as needed for NJCAA intercollegiate functions. 
• Prepare semi-monthly timesheets for submission.
• Assist with organizing team schedules.
• Performs related duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
CPR/First Aid/AED certification required upon employment.
• Fitness Instructor certification preferred
Experience
Two (2) years of experience in Athletics, physical /health education, health science or related field.
Competencies and Skills Required
• Excellent organizational, planning, supervisory, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with members of the College community and those utilizing the Fitness Center.
• Strong administrative skills, including a working knowledge of basic software programs.
• Excellent written, oral, and public relation skills.
• Experience in budgetary and supervisory endeavors associated with facility management preferred.
• Required to attain and maintain positive status on the authorized van drivers list within Union County College.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Student Activities duties are normally performed in a typical interior/resident or exterior work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk
• Some travel required
Salary $25.00 per hour

Terms of Employment
Part-Time: Hours not to exceed 25 per week. Flexible schedule to meet department needs. Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required. Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college. Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
