The Auditing Technician I will provide support to the Auditing Office.  Duties include (but are not limited to) auditing curriculum, continuing education and CCR (Basic Skills) attendance records with high levels of accuracy and assisting in maintaining and producing numerous reports.  This person also assists in preparing and reporting the FTE reports for curriculum, continuing education and CCR (Basic Skills) classes.  The person in this position must have a keen eye for detail and strong analytical and organizational skills.  Accurate filing and retrieval of records is a must.  Must be able to accurately comprehend and enforce rules governed by the State Board Community College Code (formally Administrative Code), General Statutes, memorandums, College Policies and Rules, and the College’s Internal Audit Plan as described in the management manual.
Duties/Functions
  •  Audit curriculum, continuing education, and CCR (Basic skills) 10% rosters and backup documentation using high levels of accuracy.
  •  Analyze audit reports and make the appropriate adjustments using high levels of accuracy.
  •  Analyze and document areas of concern regarding attendance rosters and provide appropriate solutions.
  •  Demonstrate and model the College’s employability skills:  adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility and teamwork.
  •  Stay abreast with changes and additions to the State Board Community College Code, General Statues, memorandums, and etc. and apply regulations to attendance rosters appropriately.
  •  Filing rosters and backup documentation for easy retrieval and State Audit.
  •  Assist and prepare reports for/during state audit review.

  • Changing priorities with fixed deadlines and maintain accuracy with paperwork during peak periods.
  • Interruptions causing breaks in focus and increased stress.
  • Compliance with state regulations, general statutes, internal auditing and college processes and procedures.
  • Ability to analyze problems and identify immediate solutions.
  • Ability to handle multiple demands/projects with time management skills
  • The ability to comprehend guidelines and apply the necessary processes and procedures with the curriculum, continuing education and CCR (Basic Skills) rosters and paperwork.

Education Required
Associate Degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.  
Education Preferred
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution .
Experience Required
  • Two years of experience in an administrative assistant or accounting position
  • Proficiency in use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint and experience using word processing and developing spreadsheets.
  • Experience managing multiple projects at one time while still being accurate and efficient. 
Experience Preferred
  • Datatel experience preferred.
  • Two years of experience as an administrative assistant or accounting clerk in a community college setting.
  • Experience with auditing, registration, and accountability functions.
KSA Required
  • Proficiency in use of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Knowledge of 10 key calculators.
  • Ability to multi-task while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with divisional and campus-wide staff members in both oral and written format.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and organize work assignments
  • Ability to tactfully and effectively communicate with deans, administrators, faculty & staff.
  • Ability to work independently for long periods of time.
  • Strong knowledge in the use of spreadsheets and data management/sorting using Excel.
  • Must show initiative and work with limited supervision.
  • Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems independently.
  • Must be able to process data and other job related functions with high levels of accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of accuracy, confidentiality, and trustworthiness.
KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements
  • Assist in auditing functions for curriculum, continuing education and CCR (Basic Skills).
  • Assist with the preparation of the ICR reports.
  • Review FTE figures and make any necessary adjustments to incorrect records.
  • Prepare and maintain reports related to FTE.
  • Monitors projects to ensure deadlines are met; reviews completed task and ensure deadlines are met; review completed tasks and ensures that any necessary corrections are made.
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.

The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter:

Physical Demands
  • Physical Activity: Must be able to sit for long periods of time and complete assignments.  Overtime may be required (if needed).  Infrequently twisting or bending at the waist or reaching overhead
  • Environmental Hazard(s):  <15%
  • Lifting:  Must be able to lift/carry up to 15 lbs.
