Position Summary/Essential Duties:

Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting.

  1. Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history
  2. Perform visual acuity
  3. Perform diagnostic testing under the supervison of physicians and techs.  These tests include visual field testing, keratometry, pachymetry, intraocular pressure check.
  4. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment
  5. Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers
  6. Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly
  7. Scribing for Physician
  8. Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians

Education/Expertise:

High school diploma required

 

 

Required Credentials, License and/or Certifications:

CPR

 

 

Experience & Knowledge:

Minimum 1 year work experience in an Health care environment preferred

Basic understanding of contact lens usage

Demonstrated skill in interpersonal relationships

Ability to work independently in a high stress environment

 

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

Use of general office equipment, including telephone, pager, and fax machines.  Basic computer skills required.
