Business Finance Specialist

Responsibilities:

This position supports the CEDA Business Development and Finance program by providing loan underwriting, loan servicing, research services, as well as program record keeping and reporting to serve small businesses in the region with financing. The work CEDA does makes a visible difference across our region. Duties include:

  • Document Review: Analyze applications for commercial loans and prepare presentation of same to CEDA Loan Review Committee.
  • Research: Conduct a variety of due diligence activities such as credit reports, UCC- searches, research for client needs.
  • Closing Activities: Assist in the preparation of loan documents for closing.
  • Loan Servicing: Perform activities such as initiation of communications with applicants and borrowers and responding to questions and requests for information.
  • File Management: Assist with loan file maintenance (paper and electronic).
  • Reporting: Gather information and prepare reports for federal agencies as well as the CEDA Board of Directors and the appropriate Councils and Committees.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to organize and present information professionally, clearly, and concisely with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
  • Ability to work independently without constant oversight.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals – clients, borrowers, community members.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret basic tax returns and basic business financial documents.
  • Proven experience working cooperatively as a team member.
  • Lending experience is a plus.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Business Management, or Accounting is required. Preferred qualifications include two (2) years’ employment experience in a business or finance setting, and in particular, lending experience. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required to meet job-related transportation needs; mileage reimbursed.

Compensation:

$52,000 to $65,000 DOE. CEDA offers a medical/dental/vision plan, 12 paid holidays, paid annual leave, and an employer-matched 401k retirement plan.

  • Planning Assistance: Support organizing and implementing local and regional planning projects.
  • Grant Administration: Perform grant management activities under processes developed by CEDA as required by funding agencies.
  • Event Support: Assist in planning and execution of CEDA events.
  • Communications: Interest and ability to manage social media, website, and supporting community outreach is a bonus.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Proven experience to work cooperatively as a team member.

Qualifications:

Education, experience, or transferable skills to meet the responsibilities and skills for the position. Preferred qualifications are bachelor’s degree or certification and/or (2) years continuous administrative experience. A valid driver’s license and personal vehicle are required to meet job-related transportation needs; mileage reimbursed.
