RESPONSIBILITIES
Intelligence Analysts have the power to influence world affairs. They provide the most complete possible foreign signals intelligence picture to U.S. policy makers and military commanders, and seek creative solutions to answer analytical questions. Intelligence Analysts are at the forefront of implementing NSA's mission, and they do so in a variety of ways: - Research and understand foreign intelligence targets, how they operate and how they fit in the larger geo-political context - Apply new techniques and develop creative solutions to address analytic problems such as synthesizing large volumes of data and disparate sources of information - Demonstrate a firm understanding of the communications environment and technology trends of foreign intelligence targets - Craft written assessments of foreign intelligence that provide unique insight into target intentions unavailable from other intelligence disciplines - Work independently and collaborate effectively (both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community) in research, analysis, and reporting
SKILLS
Relevant experience, coursework, and knowledge in one or more of the following is desired: - Signals intelligence analysis and reporting - Target development - Computer science or networking - Cyber / Cybersecurity / Information Security / Network Security - Joint or interagency cyber planning at strategic, tactical, operational levels - Military exercises / operational planning - Data modeling, mining, or science - ELINT / Geospatial analysis - Foreign Relations/Partnering - Legislative Affairs, Policy Development - Intelligence analysis - Technical skills - Analytic editing/writing - Leadership - Intelligence Watch and/or Operations Center - Network incident triage - Metadata analysis - Quantitative / Statistical analysis - Research methodology - Social network analysis - Critical foreign languages - Telecommunications - Regional studies/expertise relevant to national security - Information/Data management (archival, historical, metadata tagging/filtering/retrieval) Relevant Internships, extracurricular activities, and/or foreign study are also considered. Prior military without a degree but with intelligence analysis cryptologic experience will be considered. PAY BENEFITS & WORK SCHEDULE
Salary offers are based on candidates' education level and years of experience relevant to the position and also take into account information provided by the hiring manager/organization regarding the work level for the position. Salary ranges vary by location and work level. This position is hiring for Maryland, Texas, Georgia, Hawaii, Colorado and Utah. Salary Range: $66,214 - $176,300 (Full Performance, Senior, and Expert Levels) Typical work schedule is Monday - Friday, with basic 8hr/day work requirements between 0600 and 1800 (flexible). Exception: A very few positions may support 24x7 operations.
POSITION SUMMARY
Intelligence Analysis has the power to influence world affairs. The Intelligence Analysis mission encourages both independent and collaborative partnering (both within NSA and with other analysts in the Intelligence Community) while seeking creative solutions to analytical questions. Skills in research, analysis, reporting, planning, and advising ensure senior leaders are provided with time-sensitive cryptologic support for strategic and operational level planning across the full range of DoD and U.S. Government operations for integrated information and cyberspace operations. This wide array of skills helps protect U.S. government information systems and provides the most complete possible foreign signals intelligence picture to U.S. policy makers and military commanders.
