The University of Jamestown is seeking an Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering to begin in January of 2022.

This position is a full-time teaching position. The selected individual will develop and teach a variety of undergraduate courses in the Department of Engineering. Potential course topics could include surveying, hydrologic engineering, geotechnical engineering, and wastewater treatment. Other duties include active participation in the expansion and development of the engineering program, student advising, and service to the university. Research activities are highly encouraged. Qualified candidates should have a strong commitment to teaching undergraduates as well as knowledge of pedagogical theory in STEM fields.

The position requires a minimum of a Master's degree in civil engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, active registration as a PE, and prior experience in teaching. Preference will be given to candidates with or who are currently pursuing a Ph.D., have demonstrated excellence in teaching, have significant industry experience, and have additional relevant certifications (including LEED and OSHA).

The Department of Engineering was started in 2016 and has a small, interdisciplinary faculty. It currently offers undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering and environmental science. The Department combines a rigorous professional education with the goals of a liberal arts institution to create engineering and science graduates who are leaders, critical thinkers, and problem solvers.
