EMA Director/Fire Chief Position Available Twiggs County, Georgia Posted: 9/25/2017 This position is responsible for planning, directing, organizing and collaborating with other agencies and departments the EMA function for Twiggs County Georgia. Additionally, the position will plan, direct and organize four voluntary fire departments and serve as the County Fire Chief. This successful applicant must have the ability to write and submit grants to support the needs of the Department. As EMA Director, the selected candidate will serve Twiggs County, Georgia which has a population of approximately 8,100 and a land size of approximately 363 square miles. In this position, the Director will lead the efforts of the County in collaborating with other Twiggs County, State, School and private agencies to ensure that Twiggs is prepared for emergencies. The position will take the lead in updating Emergency Plans and Hazard Mitigation Plans. They will be responsible for advising and consulting with the Board of Commissioners on related emergency matters and funding requirements. As County Fire Chief, the position will take the lead in improving the performance of four voluntary fire departments in Twiggs County. The County has a goal of improving its ISO ratings. The position is expected to building and organizes a unified voluntary fire fighting service; to include the ability to develop and enforce training records, records management, and equipment accountability and service. This will include maintenance of the fire and rescue stations and fire vehicles and equipment. Other immediate needs include prioritizing the replacement of needed equipment for firefighters to respond to emergency calls for fire suppression, medical assistance, hazardous materials incidents, motor vehicles accidents and other emergency situations. The department also performs search, rescue and extrication of victims. Salary range is expected to be between $40,000 and $50,000 per year based on qualifications/experience.
