The HRA of Clay County seeks a full-time employee to perform Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections of privately-owned rental units in the area and to perform general building and grounds maintenance activities on HRA-owned rental units.

HQS inspection duties and responsibilities include conducting Housing inspections for all Clay County HRA rental assistance programs by:

1. Scheduling new, annual and biennial inspections;
2. Ensuring inspections are completed within required time frames;
3. Determining if dwelling units pass or fail the inspection requirements; and
4. Explaining results to tenants and notifying owners and appropriate HRA personnel of findings.

Maintenance duties include:

1. Preparing units for occupancy at turnover;
2. Light plumbing, electrical, and carpentry activities; and
3. Year-round building and grounds maintenance.

Must be available for a rotating on-call schedule for weekend and evening emergencies.

Ideal candidate will have basic computer/Ipad skills; general and preventive maintenance experience; good written and oral communication skills; familiarity with hand and power tools; and the ability to work well with diverse populations. Requires minimum of 2 years related experience; a high school diploma; ability to pass a criminal background check; and a valid driver's license.

Wage range is $16.07-$19.35 per hour with excellent benefits package including 100% employer paid single health, dental and long-term disability insurance. Normal hours are 8-4:30pm, Monday-Friday.
