Environmental Services 

Full-time; 80 Hrs. Bi-weekly

Rotating weekends and holidays

Summary: 

Assumes responsibility for the general cleanliness of an assigned area such as a patient areas, residence areas, offices, laboratories, restrooms, exam rooms, treatment rooms, lobbies, etc. Upholds the mission, vision, values, and customer service standards of The MetroHealth System.

 

 

Responsibilities:

1. Assumes responsibility for the general cleanliness of an assigned area such as a patient areas, residence areas, offices, laboratories, restrooms, lobbies, etc. by:
a. Emptying, cleaning, and re-lining trash and biohazard containers.
b. Dusting and cleaning shades, blinds, and windowsills.
c. Cleaning and disinfecting all horizontal and vertical surfaces, including spot washing walls and baseboards.
d. Arranging furniture and equipment in an orderly manner.
e. Scouring and polishing showers, sinks, toilets, and urinals.
f. Dusting, mopping, and vacuuming floors.
g. Replenishing supplies of soap, sanitizer, paper towels, toilet tissue, urinal mats, and seat covers.
h. Washing glass doors, interior windows, and mirrors.
i. Keeping hopper room in good order, sweeping and dusting as necessary; rearranging supplies.
j. Polishing brass and stainless steel.
k. May exchange linen if required in an assigned area.
l. Performing both daily and discharge cleaning on patient unit floors per departmental procedures and policies regarding ideal cleaning protocols.
m. Ensuring proper use of the bed tracking system.

2. Picks-up cleaning supplies and equipment daily or as necessary. Cleans and maintains supplies, equipment, and environmental services closets daily. Maintains proper par levels for stock and checks for expired product.

3. Keeps current with trends, developments, and practices in the field as they relate to this work assignment.

4. Incorporates principles of teamwork in the resolution, completion, and follow-up of responsibilities.

 

 

Qualifications:

Required:
Minimal education.
Ability to read and write English.

Preferred:
Previous housekeeping experience

Physical Requirements:
May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
May need to sit or stand for extended periods.
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Ability to climb intermittently during the day.
Ability to push/pull 70-150 pounds.
Ability to lift 10-40 pounds.
Requires some exposure to chemicals, bioburden, and cleaning products.
