NYSUT A Union of Professionals seeks an Accounting Specialist

NYSUT a 600,000 plus Member Organization located in Latham, New York seeks a fill time Accounting Specialist to work at the Union Headquarters in the Accounting Department. Qualified applicants should have a proven high degree of accounting proficiency and knowledge of accounts receivables and accounts payables management.

This position is responsible for the proper and timely recording of financial transactions in the accounting system and the general ledger in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles. Responsibilities include processing and analyzing transactions, preparing account reconciliations, resolving reconciling of items utilizing technical judgement and problem-solving skills and preparing accounting statements and written financial analysis. Strong accounting information systems skills and experience with ERP systems including Microsoft Dynamics GP, and a demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Office 365 is required. Ability to prioritize multiple demands and be well organized. Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills . A minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in accounting. An associate degree in accounting is required, a bachelor’s degree is preferred. Knowledge of the American Labor Movement and objectives is helpful.
