Assistant to the County Engineer

Johnson County Secondary Road Department seeks an Assistant to the County Engineer to perform civil engineering duties ranging from design to project and staff management.  This is a self-directed professional-track position which requires the exercise of considerable judgment, knowledge, and creative thinking to determine safe, sustainable, and economical solutions to unique and complex engineering problems.

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field AND one year of experience/training in computer-aided design or GIS techniques; OR any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Certification as Engineer Intern (EI) or ability to obtain within 6 months of employment.  Valid driver’s license and insurable under county liability coverage.  Must pass background check.

COMPENSATION:$65,866.18-$79,039.42/annually plus outstanding benefits package including IPERS
