Maintenance Mechanic

Responsibilities: Motivate and supervise mechanical craftsmen to accomplish maintenance goals in a safe, efficient, cost effective manner. Apply project management proficiencies to ensure that cost and safety objectives are met in a timely manner. Responsible for the completion of assigned capital projects, maintenance shutdown projects, and weekly maintenance schedules in accordance with established maintenance procedures, standards and policies. Provide technical support based on established industry and mechanical standards. Provide guidance and direction to act in accordance with MSHA, EPA, HSE standards and regulations and any other to which we prescribe including but not limited to ISO, HAACP, AFIA. Identify, conduct, and participate in Continuous Improvement activities through completion. Participate in RCA's on major failures, and RCM's on fixed plant equipment. Inspect jobs for efficiency of completeness, analyze planned vs. actual and implement improvements. Approach maintenance tasks with a reliability mindset. Will be required to work as a millwright during vacations, holidays, call outs, or whenever necessary.

Qualifications:

Qualified Journeyman Millwright with related work history of 4 years or more Minimum of 1 year of proven Leadership/Supervisory experience Minimum of 3 years in a mining and processing environment Experience in a Union setting Experienced welder Working knowledge of a formal planning and scheduling maintenance process Working knowledge of maintenance best practices Working knowledge of preventive and predictive reliability practices Ability to identify and control hazardous conditions CMMS experience a plus, particularly E-Maintenance Maintenance experience with various feed systems, i.e. belt conveyors, screw conveyors, pan feeders, bucket elevators, and pneumatic feeders. Maintenance experience with various crushing systems, i.e. gyratory, tertiary, jaw, and impact crushers. Maintenance experience with burner and Herreshoff furnaces a plus.

Company description: Since the early 1940's, the mine in Gabbs has been producing Magnesium Oxide for the U. S. government for the war effort. Following that need being met, the same mine has provided Magnesium Oxide for various private entities without a single shut down. Currently privately owned, Premier Magnesia, has a mine life well into the end of this century.
