The Paraprofessional Tutor will assist the Student Services Specialist in administering academic assistance to

Success Center.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
· Responsible for monitoring
EOF
Success Center.
· Tutor students one-on-one and in groups and in select subjects.
· Maintain required records of tutoring sessions.
· Attend orientation and training sessions.
· Attend scheduled tutoring-staff meetings during each semester.
· Observe the rules and procedures that apply to the tutoring venue and to the tutoring component.
· Assist the Student Service Specialist in administering academic workshops and related academic activities.
· Assist with and complete variety of assessments.
· Perform all other related tasks as assigned.
Education Requirements
Associate’s Degree required.
Experience
·
GPA
of 3.0 in subjects of tutoring.
· Prior tutoring and/or teaching experience preferred.
· Expertise in Math and/or Science is preferred.
Competencies and Skills Required
· Ability to break down complicated ideas in subjects of tutoring to simpler ideas and convey those ides to students.
· Interact with a diverse student, staff, and faculty population.
· Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access.
· Ability to work with computer-aided instruction programs and internet search engines.
· Must be able to work effectively with minimal supervision.
· Ability to be sufficiently assertive as needed.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
· This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
· Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
· No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
· Some travel required.
