Welders/Aluminum - Job Description

Maritime Applied Physics Corporation (MAPC) is a Baltimore based engineering, research, development, and production company focused on marine technologies including unmanned and manned aerial, surface, and underwater vehicles, renewable energy, structures, and machinery systems, in-house fabrication, prototyping, production, and much more. MAPC is actively seeing welders and fitters for building aluminum commercial and military boats as well as prototype fabrication. The successful candidate will have the following capabilities:

• A minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
• Aluminum MIG welding preferred.
• Experience in building maritime vessels and equipment a plus.
• Should have basic knowledge of welding steel, stainless steel and aluminum in all positions in both MIG and TIG.
• Must have knowledge of basic fabrication equipment including welding machines, saws, grinders, drills, shears, press, punch, manual machines. Should also have basic mechanical skills and material handling equipment such as forklift, crane, etc
• Must be able to read and understand prints, layout parts, inspect work and have strong math skills. Should be able to free think and fabricate from basic verbal instructions to detailed drawings and prints.
• Ability to work in a military environment where drug testing and any adverse personal history may be subject to checks prior to and during employment.
• Detail oriented people with ability to work within a team as a leader or follower, or work independently.
• Must be self-motivated and dependable.
• There may be travel within the US maritime territory, supporting system operation and testing aboard Navy and USCG vessels. Candidates should be willing and able to travel.
