Winchester Thurston seeks Pk-8 Substitute teachers for the 2018-19 school year.

Winchester Thurston School, a Pre-Kindergarten through Grade 12 independent school in Pittsburgh, announces a search for substitute teachers for PK – grade 8 for the 2018 – 2019 school year. Winchester Thurston seeks faculty members who are dedicated in particular to actively engaging students through experiential learning programs in connection with the dynamic resources of the region, through a nationally recognized initiative called City as Our Campus. Our faculty members lead the way in educational innovation, rigorous academics, scholarly standards, and a learning environment that better prepares students for the challenges of a changing world in the twenty-first century.

A substitute teacher may provide instruction and follow lesson plans for students in Pre-K – grade 8 in any subject. The substitute teacher must understand the emotional and educational needs of young and adolescent children, be able to effectively communicate with them, and respond appropriately to individual differences in children.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor of Arts in education or subject-related discipline.
• Experience in independent schools preferred.
