Summary

We are seeking individuals who have exceptional customer service skills to greet and provide information to patrons at the King County Aquatic Centers in Federal Way WA. This temporary position is responsible for registering patrons for swim activities and collecting fees for facility programs. Cashiers will also monitor the safety and cleanliness of the front desk area and educate the public to promote habits and attitudes that lead to safe recreation. Who is Eligible: This position is open to all qualified candidates.
 
Work Location: King County Aquatics Center, 650 SW Campus Dr., Federal Way, WA 98023. The work associated with this position will be performed on-site.  
Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

Work Schedule: The work schedule for this position is varied and event dependent. Cashiers may be required to work special events, evenings, weekends and split shifts.
This position is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is overtime eligible.

Job Duties

  • Collect admissions fees and register patrons for scheduled programs.
  • Educate patrons of rules and policies of the King County Park System.
  • Assist with cleaning the front desk area and other areas of the facility as assigned.
  • Respond to emergency situations; follow facility protocol for reporting damage, incidents or injuries.
  • Complete reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to all patrons via telephone and/or in person. 
  • Provide program-specific information that requires limited interpretation of established policies, procedures and other relevant sources to internal and/or external customers over the telephone, in writing and/or in person.
  • Perform data entry. 
  • Handle multiple-step transactions such as receiving and/or issuing receipts, forms, cash and documents.

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

The Most Competitive Candidates Will Have:

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships, provide excellent customer service, and the ability to positively interact with a variety of people in a diverse work environment.
  • Ability to prioritize workload, adapt to changes, and provide high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of computers (Windows, Excel & Word) and knowledge of aquatic programs and safety procedures.
  • Must be a minimum of 16 years of age. 
  • Possess and maintain current American Red Cross certifications: Community First Aid and CPR/FPR.
Physical Requirements
  • Able to perform duties involving physical labor; such as bending, kneeling, standing, reaching, climbing, stooping, squatting, pushing, and twisting.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Maintain 20/40 vision. Use of corrective lenses is acceptable.
  • Ability to assist during emergency situations.
